Suki Rees (she/her)

Legal Manager

With Opportunity Green since: November 2024

“Developing a new practice area for the legal team has been an exciting challenge – and it’s just the beginning! Publishing our first briefing on strategic litigation for climate action in agriculture kicks off the more practical stage of my work, following initial research and scoping.”

Specialist areas:

Climate law and litigation, agriculture and land use, project finance, renewable energy development, corporate law

About Suki:

Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2017, Suki has specialised in renewable energy financing. Working at an international firm (including a secondment to an investment bank) before joining OG, she worked on innovative financing structures to support development of the UK and Europe’s solar PV markets.

Although she joined OG to help bring about systemic change, she firmly believes in the value of taking personal steps to create a better environment. She has been a serial volunteer in aid of that – whether at a local restorative justice project, zero waste shop or the fields in Herefordshire her parents are attempting to rewild!

As Legal Manager, she leads the legal team’s agriculture and land use work with the aim of reducing emissions in the sector and supporting a just transition. Among her areas of focus are research into which laws can be leveraged to make the sector more sustainable, and analysis of the power dynamics within the food system.
