With Opportunity Green since: January 2025
“Much of what I do involves talking to stakeholders and decision makers to advance our green agenda, particularly in the shipping and aviation industries. It’s a long way from customs, social security or recycling, but the red thread throughout my career has been nerding out on science, tech and legal texts in order to help improve regulatory environments. OG allows me to do just that, in some of the most exciting sectors to decarbonise!”
Decarbonising shipping and aviation, E-fuels, renewables, zero emission technologies, EU policy making
From protecting artists’ access to social security in Europe, to championing authors’ rights, Aurelia built a broad and varied career before joining Opportunity Green. She’s worked for the British and French embassies in Brussels and the Hague, respectively; and at one point spent brief periods at the International Criminal Court, before moving into the green sector. In the last decade, she was Public and Regulatory Affairs Manager for Fost Plus, a household packaging recycling scheme in Belgium; and Deputy Director of Bellona Europa (Brussels), a climate NGO, where she focused on industrial decarbonisation.
Today, Aurelia leads the SASHA Coalition and Opportunity Green’s advocacy team, tackling “anything to do with EU policy making”. She reaches out to potential new SASHA members to expand the coalition, and keeps in regular contact with MEPs and other EU representatives to make our message reache the people who can change things for the better.
When she’s not bending the ear of policy makers, Aurelia volunteers at ToolBox, a consultancy which supports small NGOs and non-profits in Belgium to improve how they’re managed.
