With Opportunity Green since: May 2026
“I’m very excited to join Opportunity Green and contribute to the fight for environmental and climate justice. I look forward to building on my experience in strategic litigation to develop and carry out innovative legal strategies that can help drive the systemic changes needed to address our planetary crises.”
Strategic legal interventions, environmental and climate law, human rights law, public and administrative law, public international law, multi-sectoral decarbonisation
Laurent develops and implements strategic legal interventions aimed at driving decarbonisation and holding often under-scrutinised sectors to account. His work cuts across a range of legal approaches and industries, including aviation and shipping finance, heavy goods vehicles, and loss and damage claims arising from climate-related harm.
Prior to joining Opportunity Green, Laurent was a Phil Michaels Legal Scholar at Friends of the Earth, where he led and supported a range of complex legal projects. These included developing novel legal challenges against public authorities for failures to enforce anti-deforestation supply chain regulations, scoping a potential intervention in the first Investor-State Dispute Settlement claim brought against the UK relating to fossil fuels, and drafting a scoping briefing on emerging climate litigation opportunities circulated across 70 jurisdictions.
Laurent holds an LLB in Politics, Philosophy and Law from King’s College London, where he graduated top of his cohort. During his studies, he was highly commended in the Best Contribution by an Individual Student category at the LawWorks and Attorney General Student Pro Bono Awards for his legal work with the King’s Human Rights and Environment Clinic and the Windrush Justice Clinic.
