Delivering lasting change
The world is making exciting strides in climate action, yet some major sectors – like aviation, shipping, steel, finance, and agriculture – still lag behind. At Opportunity Green, we focus on transforming these hard-to-decarbonise industries by bringing together legal, economic, scientific, and policy expertise.
From challenging greenwashing and driving strategic litigation, to providing robust evidence for better policymaking, we tackle the barriers that slow global progress. We also work to elevate the voices of climate vulnerable countries in key international negotiations and unite forward-thinking businesses through the SASHA Coalition to accelerate the shift to green hydrogen.
Through this multidisciplinary approach, Opportunity Green is uniquely positioned to deliver meaningful, lasting change. This has been recognised by the diverse range of fantastic funders that support the work we do and enable our impact to grow.

How we’re making impact
Here are just a few examples of the impact we have achieved…
Our complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority led to MSC removing their adverts and agreeing that future ads would substantiate environmental claims.
Along with five other NGOs, we challenged the Commission’s Taxonomy over its flawed sustainable finance criteria that labels polluting ships and planes as ‘green’.
This win underpins our second objective in our organisational strategy: “to be a great place to work where great staff are valued and treated well.”
We provided written and oral evidence on ammonia use as a shipping fuel, which has been extensively cited in the committee’s final report.
Our team’s in-depth briefing packs supported many new delegates at the International Maritime Organization meetings, and there has been a notable rise in attendance from small island developing states and least developed countries.
Our complaint highlights steel giant ArcelorMittal’s lack of climate action and states that it breaches OECD Guidelines.
An interview on BBC Radio 5 Live highlighting the rapid rise of data centres in the UK and the need for stronger regulation.
A timely report urging Ireland to lead on climate action for aviation in its role as the Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2026, which was widely featured in Irish press.
Our progressive policy also states that all men must take at least three months paid leave in order to help close the gender pay gap.
- Making submissions to the International Tribunal of the Law of the Sea and the International Court of Justice advisory opinions
OG was the only organisation to make submissions focusing on States’ legal obligations to decarbonise international aviation and shipping, which were reflected in the ITLOS AO.
This resulted in the Committee questioning the UK government and calling on the UK to enhance its housing decarbonisation policy in its concluding observations.
The results of our legal briefing have been incorporated by UK and EU policymakers into their thinking, and fed into the Global Solidarity Levies Task Force a coalition of countries that support tax on luxury flights.
We are thrilled to have been recognised for impactful climate giving for three years in a row, in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
We have established the SASHA Coalition as a unique and authoritative player, convening forward-looking companies to advocate for ambitious shipping and aviation policy that supports the decarbonisation of these sectors.
We brought together industry leaders and policymakers for a productive discussion on delivering on delivering on EU mandates and scaling e-fuels for shipping and aviation decarbonisation in Europe, hosted by Renew MEPs Oetjen and Gerbrandy.
Testimonials
Read what people say about us.
“Opportunity Green are very effective at using expert legal advice as targeted topic-specific briefings. These can shift the conversation in negotiations or meetings and move decision makers closer to the desired result.”
“Opportunity Green’s organisational agility gets their findings in front of policymakers via new routes, and in a more emotionally engaging way than would be possible for some of the bigger, slow-moving climate NGOs to achieve.”
“OG rises above the background buzz of the existing dialogue to remind everyone of what is at stake and what is possible. They are constrained only by capacity, and we could only welcome the chance for them to do even more."
