Aoife O'Leary (she/her)
FOUNDER & CEO
Aoife is the founder and CEO of Opportunity Green. A lawyer and economist with deep environmental expertise, she founded Opportunity Green to realise her vision of working closely with governments, other NGOs and industry around the world to seize on the opportunities that come with solving the climate crisis.
Aoife is also a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at King’s College London’s Department of Political Economy.

Carly Hicks (she/her)
CHIEF STRATEGY AND IMPACT OFFICER (on parental leave)
A lawyer by trade, Carly is the Legal Director and CSIO at Opportunity Green. Carly trained at an international law firm before working as an energy lawyer at the National Grid, supporting the decarbonisation of the UK electricity system.
Carly started her career as an MEP advisor in the European Parliament, specialising in energy, the environment and fisheries. She is thrilled to have the chance to apply her legal skills and strategic organisational experience to her passion for protecting our environment.

Gill Johnson
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Gill is the Chief Operating Officer at Opportunity Green. Gill started her career volunteering in rural South Africa, before going on to fundraise for several large international development and humanitarian charities; manage change programmes; run a UK-based climate change education charity; and start her own consulting business.
She is delighted to be able to combine her passion to protect the planet with her love of all things systems and operations.

Emma Fenton (they/them)
SENIOR DIRECTOR, CLIMATE DIPLOMACY
Emma is the Senior Director, Climate Diplomacy at Opportunity Green. Prior to joining they led the Scottish Government’s International Climate Policy Team to deliver Scotland’s £36m Climate Justice Fund and international advocacy on climate justice, especially action to address climate-induced loss and damage.
Emma started their career in grassroots conservation and research work in Cameroon and Indonesia before moving on to climate and environment policy roles in the UK.

James Meadway (he/him)
SENIOR DIRECTOR, ECONOMICS
James is Senior Director, Economics at Opportunity Green. He was previously chief economist at the New Economics Foundation, economic advisor to the Shadow Chancellor, and director of the Progressive Economy Forum, before working at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, focusing on Loss and Damage financing for the Global South.
James studied economics and economic history at LSE, and completed a PhD on macroeconomic modelling. He has taught and lectured at universities including SOAS, Sussex and Cambridge, and is a trustee of Rethinking Economics.

Hannah Jolliffe (she/her)
COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
Hannah is Communications Director at Opportunity Green. She has a track record of using content, comms and storytelling to help charities, businesses and brands amplify their mission.
Notable roles include being launch editor of a new community site for Which?, leading on communications at plastic awareness charity RAW Foundation and consultancy roles on climate and sustainability campaigns for clients such as Unilever, Sustrans and the European Environment Foundation.

LEGAL DIRECTOR
David is the Legal Director at Opportunity Green. He is a qualified solicitor with a broad range of corporate, energy and projects experience at top tier law firms internationally.
He holds a Master's degree in Global Environment and Climate Change Law from the University of Edinburgh and is passionate about using the law to drive climate action.

Ana Laranjeira (she/her)
SENIOR MANAGER, CLIMATE DIPLOMACY
Ana is the Senior Manager of International Shipping Policy at Opportunity Green, focusing on shipping decarbonisation.
Her background includes international maritime decarbonisation within the International Maritime Organization, climate diplomacy, and just transition policy, having worked both in government and civil society.

Sophie Prinz (she/her)
SENIOR LEGAL MANAGER
Sophie is a Senior Legal Manager at Opportunity Green, focusing on Sustainable Finance. She is a qualified lawyer at the Paris Bar and practiced EU and French competition law in Paris. Most recently, Sophie was a Lead Lawyer (Corporate Accountability) at FILE, a legal re-granter supporting climate litigation.
Sophie holds an LLM in Global Environment and Climate Change Law from the University of Edinburgh and is passionate about developing innovative legal strategies to mitigate the climate crisis.

Kirsty Mitchell (she/her)
LEGAL MANAGER
Kirsty is a Legal Manager at Opportunity Green. She is a qualified solicitor with a range of experience in energy and environmental law. Before joining Opportunity Green, Kirsty worked in the energy and climate change practice of an international law firm and completed three client secondments.
Kirsty is a Board Trustee at 2050 Climate Group and a member of the Law Society of Scotland's Sustainability Committee. She is enthusiastic to apply her legal skills to make a positive impact.

Suki Rees (she/her)
LEGAL MANAGER
Suki is a Legal Manager at Opportunity Green, focussing on land use and agriculture. She is a qualified solicitor with over 7 years of experience working in renewable energy financing. Prior to joining Opportunity Green, she worked in the energy & infrastructure team of an international law firm.
She has recently spent time volunteering with a local restorative justice project and is passionate about the levelling of the playing field that can be achieved through climate justice work.

Zuzka Majcova (she/her)
PEOPLE & CULTURE MANGER
Zuzka is the People & Culture Manager at Opportunity Green. Before joining Opportunity Green, Zuzka worked at an environmental non-profit Global Canopy, initially as an Executive Coordinator before taking over the HR side of its operations as the organisation grew. Zuzka is passionate about people-centric HR and creating great workplaces with kindness at the heart.
Zuzka is an Associate member of CIPD, holds an MA in International Development and BA (Hons) in Human Geography.

Dominika Leitane (she/her)
LEGAL OFFICER
Dominika is a Legal Officer at Opportunity Green. Prior to joining OG, she worked in public law at a B-Corp law firm, held legal research and casework positions at various NGOs and completed a traineeship at the European Court of Human Rights.
Dominika holds an LLM in Public International Law from the University of Amsterdam, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Law and a BSc in Psychology. She is committed to leveraging the law to achieve positive social and environmental impacts. She is currently Deputy Chair at Legal Voice for the Future.

Blánaid Sheeran (she/her)
POLICY OFFICER, CLIMATE DIPLOMACY
Blánaid's focus is in public international law, with a focus on international negotiations, human rights and climate change. As an LLM candidate at the LSE in 2022 Blánaid's research focused on the negotiation of the right to a healthy environment at the UN.
In 2021 she graduated cum laude from Maastricht University's European Law School bachelor. She is currently also a member of the Chatham House Common Future Conversations programme.

Nuala Doyle (she/her)
POLICY OFFICER
Nuala is a Policy Officer at Opportunity Green. Prior to joining Opportunity Green, Nuala worked as a Policy Adviser within the Scottish Government's Directorate for Energy and Climate Change, specialising in international climate change. In this role, she worked on the Scottish Government's COP26 programme and hydrogen policy.
Nuala also holds a master's degree in Environment and Development from the University of Edinburgh.

James Kershaw (he/him)
SCIENTIFIC OFFICER
James is a Scientific Officer at Opportunity Green. Prior to joining the team, he worked as a marine planner at the Marine Management Organisation, focusing on using scientific evidence in marine plan development.
For his PhD James researched the links between Earth’s ocean and climate, and also holds a degree in Earth Science. James also previously worked on marine carbon storage and sequestration at the UK’s Climate Change Committee (CCC).

Leona Kadijevic (she/her)
MULTIMEDIA CONTENT PRODUCER
Leona is the Multimedia Content Producer at Opportunity Green coming from a versatile creative background.
Her experience ranges from documentary filmmaking to delivering briefs on a variety of commercial as well as corporate projects. However, she is most passionate about applying effective storytelling and design to projects in the NGO sector, from campaigns supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs at Hatch Enterprise to designing creative campaigns on environmental protection and the importance of nature and sustainability at Friends of the Earth.

Sabrina Khan-Dighe (she/her)
POLICY ASSISTANT
Sabrina's educational background focuses on climate change, renewable energy and a just energy transition.
Her LLM in Energy & Natural Resources Law from Queen Mary University of London focused on renewable energy law, enacting the Paris Agreement into regulation, and her dissertation focused on the impacts of energy neo-colonialism on decarbonisation in Africa and Persia. She has also completed legal research projects for international global campaigning networks. She studied French and English law in Paris and Birmingham and has experience working in dispute resolution as an ombudsman and in anti-trust law as a paralegal.

Olivia Moyle (she/her)
LEGAL ASSISTANT
Olivia is the Legal Assistant at Opportunity Green. Prior to joining Opportunity Green, Olivia worked as a research assistant for Global Canopy where she assessed the deforestation and human rights policies of the top 500 companies and financial institutions with the largest influence on tropical deforestation.
Olivia holds a LLM in Human Rights Law from the University of Bristol. Alongside her studies she conducted research into UN reporting on indigenous peoples’ right to a healthy environment. As a result of her studies in colonial and feminist critiques of human rights Olivia is most interested in the intersection of human rights and climate change.

Daniel Lubin (he/him)
DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT
Daniel is the Digital Communications Assistant at Opportunity Green. His background is in communications, campaigning and community organising with Na’amod, a movement he co-founded in 2018 mobilising Jewish communities in the UK for Palestinian rights.
He holds an MA in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University and a BA in English Literature from UCL.

Aqila K. Indra (she/her)
PROJECT ASSISTANT, CLIMATE DIPLOMACY
Aqila is the Project Assistant of the International Shipping Policy Team at Opportunity Green. Prior to joining, Aqila worked with NGOs in Indonesia focusing on the sustainable development of grassroot-level communities, SMEs, and women environment leaders.
She holds a master’s degree in Development Studies from LSE, where her research focused on women-led sustainability efforts, decolonisation of the green movement, and the empowerment of marginalised and indigenous groups.

Beatrice Oyadoke (she/her)
OPERATIONS ASSISTANT
Before joining Opportunity Green as Operations Assistant, Beatrice earned a Master's degree in Project Management and Operations Management from the University of Huddersfield. Following her studies, she gained valuable experience working as a remote Project Manager.

Roo (she/her)
CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER
Roo has vast experience chasing down squirrels, barking at strangers and generally being a very good girly. She can easily be won over with treats (chicken is her favourite) but only on her own timetable. Roo’s approach to life is to “trust no one” and then once she trusts them, to sit on their lap and demand cuddles.
